Ada Hegerberg has been voted UEFA's Best Women's Player in Europe Award for 2015-16, via UEFA.com. She tops defensive midfielder Amandine Henry and Germany International Dzsenifer Marozsán on the shortlist.

The forward convincingly won over 20 journalists each committed to supporting women's football, receiving 13 votes, while the other two finalist earning only seven votes combined. She was also selected by the European Sports Media Group. Hegerberg is the first non-German to win the award, as all German-Born women have taken the award since the its announcement in 2013 (Celia Šašić, Nadine Kessler and Nadine Angerer).

Unfortunately for the other two finalists, respectfully, Henry and Marozsán finished second and third in 2014-15, conceding the award to Celia Šašić.

Hegerberg is all deserving of the award, leading her club, Olympique Lyonnais, to a treble of trophies in the 2015-16 season. Those include triumphs in the UEFA Women's Champions League, Division 1 Féminine (Women's Champions of France) and the Coupe de France Féminine (Women's France Cup).

The Norway International played a huge part in all success this season. In Division 1 Féminine, Hegerberg netted 33 goals in only 20 appearances. In the UEFA Women's Champions League, she scored 13 goals and assisted 4 in only 9 appearances. Her season totals amounted to 88 goals in 67 appearances, which equals about 1.31 goals a game, astounding numbers by any footballer.

Hegerberg also has helped her club in the UEFA Women's EURO qualifying stages, scoring six goals in six appearances, as well as providing one goal.

Ada Hegerberg, 21, is a young player with her best years yet to come and will definitely be in the running for the award for the 2016-17 season, with a possibility of a second consecutive title.
